My Story

Some of my earliest memories are of being with my dad, waiting in our makeshift darkroom (the bathroom!) and watching as the images slowly developed. There was a quiet magic and sense of wonder in those moments.

There’s been a camera in my hands ever since. Though my path first led in a different direction, photography has been a constant thread throughout my life and, in time, became my profession.

I hold a Fellowship with the Irish Photographic Federation and also achieved Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society.

Gardening has also long been a quiet love. Caring for plants and watching them grow is both magic and medicine to me, echoing the wonder of waiting in the darkroom to reveal what was once hidden.

Why 'Elsewhere'?

Curiosity is at the heart of my work. I photograph instinctively, outdoors, using natural light. No tripods, just a handheld camera, macro lens, steady breathing and the patience to wait for the moment when everything aligns.

Working with a very shallow depth of field means being completely still – even the smallest movement can shift the focus completely. In those moments, time slows, distractions fade and I feel as though I’ve crossed into another world. That’s when I find myself Elsewhere.

Born in the heart of a flower, where light drifts, colour dances softly and dreamscapes come to life, guided by Niamh’s quiet curiosity and her camera.

Elsewhere is a fine art photography collection of limited edition prints exploring the point where observation becomes imagination and offers an invitation to explore.
